Ardis Maureen Wilhelms, age 98, of Lincoln, NE, passed away December 23, 2023 at Savannah Pines in Lincoln.
Ardis was born May 11, 1925 to John and Adele (Haase) Niebuhr at Dalton, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Gurley, NE. She attended Center Country School through tenth grade. She then attended Sidney High School and graduated in 1942. Ardis attended Midland College for two years after which she moved to Denver and was employed at Carson Crockery for two years. During WWII she was a volunteer at the North Platte Canteen for troop trains traveling through North Platte.
She married Alton "Mook" Wilhelms on November 24, 1946. To this union five children were born. They published newspapers in Polk, Stromsburg, Osceola and Shelby from 1950 to 1983.
In retirement, they enjoyed traveling. In 2008 they moved to Lincoln. She was a resident of Savannah Pines in Lincoln for 12 years.
Ardis was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 72 years. She was active in the Stromsburg Salem Lutheran Church. She volunteered at the Swedish Festival for years and was Queen in 1986. She was a huge fan of Husker athletics.
Ardis is survived by her five children: Gregory (Linda), Douglas, Brenda, Wendy and Wanda (Greg); grandchildren: Emily, Jeffrey (Susanne), Joanna, Madison and Devon; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Greta; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mook who passed away April 10, 2018, and her parents.
A Graveside Memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Salem Lutheran Church, Stromsburg NE. Cards may be sent to Wanda Wood at 7900 Amber Hill Rd., Lincoln, NE 68516.

Remembering Ardis with great love and appreciation. She had great common sense and added so much to life in Burg and at Salem. God bless her and Mook and the family they raised. We'll hope to celebrate her life later this year
