Doris Lorraine (Althouse) Maahs, 92, formerly of Waverly, passed away June 17, 2025, in Lincoln.
Born April 2, 1933, in Lincoln, to Clarence and Marian (Cooley) Althouse.
Doris grew up near Waverly with one sister and two brothers. She graduated from Waverly High School, Class of 1951. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Eugene Maahs of Walton, together they raised six children and worked the family farm. Doris was a mail carrier in Waverly for 29 years.
Survived by her children, Clayton (Drenda) Maahs and Gordon (Jule) Maahs, all of Bennet, Duane (Sandy) Maahs and Mindy Smith, all of Lincoln, Marilyn (Craig) Kirchhoff, Weeping Water, and Cara Scholl, Walton; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Louise Reed; brother, Don (Darlene) Althouse; son-in-law, Steven Scholl; grandson, Matthew Kirchhoff; sister-in-law, Marlene Althouse; nephews, Dan Althouse and Ted and Alan Reed.
Visitation will be Friday, June 27, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Roper and Sons Waverly Chapel, 10851 N. 148th Street.
Graveside service: 9 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025, Lincoln Memorial Park, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln. Meet at Gate #2 entrance.
Memorial service: 11 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025, Peace Lutheran Church, 9831 N. 145th, Waverly.
