I'm very sorry to hear about the passing of Doug. He and I played football together. I was a right end and he was a tackle. I think about him often. In fact, the other day, I was telling a friend of mine about one of the plays that I dearly remember. I was laying on the ground & one of the opposing team's players was about to kick me in a place that would have really hurt. Doug came along & mowed him over. I thanked him many times. I haven't seen Doug since our ten year reunion, but I have a lot of fond memories of those early years. I was at his house several times. I was always interested in angus cattle, and they really had some good ones. Again, I'm very sorry to hear about Doug, and God bless you and your family. If you would like to e-mail me, you can send it to my daughter, Tami Prang. Her e-mail address is [email protected].

We were very sorry to hear about Doug. Both Bonnie and I were classmates with Doug at Waverly High School. Doug and I were first string defensive line. He played tackle and I was guard. I have many fond memories of those days. We were also on the wrestling team together. Doug was a great guy and I'm sure he will be missed by his family and many friends! I wish we would have kept in touch but like so many of us when we get out of high school, we go our separate ways. May God help you thru these trying times. Vern and Bonnie

Doug will be missed by many. I am truly sorry for your loss. We worked together at Pfizer-Animal Health for four years and I came to know Doug as a very caring, gentle man. He did love his Huskers and his children as he talked of them. Many fond memories for me.

I always referred to Doug as the Gentle Giant. Was just reminiscing about Doug Monday and said I need to call him. As we all sometimes do, we fail to do those little things to reach out to our friends due to those little things in life that seem to get in the way.
One little story always comes to mind when I think of Doug. We were on a hunting trip and I lost my way in some thick underbrush. Even though I was on my property I had no way of knowing where I was at. Heard a noise then seen small oaks and brush open up as Doug came walking though unbothered by it as was his way, never letting the little things in life affect him outwardly.
As anyone who knew him knows, he had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family and friends.
He will be missed, but always with us in our hearts. My deepest condolences to Sandy, Jeff, Brian, and Kristin.

Dear Sandy and children, I was so saddened to read about your husband's/father's death in the newspaper. I hope he did not suffer. He was a great father.
I have been a Hospice nurse at Kansas City Hospice for the past 5 years, but, I retired in December.
If there is anything I could do for you please call. Our number is in the phone book. I will call you in a few weeks/months.
