Jason Gillespie Obituary

Jason A. Gillespie, 90, Lincoln, formerly Tobias, died Sunday (1/11/04). Born, Lincoln (6/16/13) to Jayson E. and Bella Ault Gillespie. Married Virginia R. Ziemann (6/5/65). They moved to Lincoln from Tobias in 1989. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1932. He was a member of the Tobias Community Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Since moving to Lincoln, he attended Temple Baptist Church. Jason entered military service in 1942 and served for three years with the 833rd Engineer Aviation Battalion. Campaigns included Normandy and throughout central Europe. He assisted building and defending airstrips. He was a member of the American Legion; IOOF Chapter 11; past master of Western Grange 408. He raised purebred Hereford cattle on his farm that his grandfather had purchased in the pioneer days, since 1879.

Survivors: wife, Virginia; niece, Carol Rice, Fullerton, Calif.; grandnephews, Michael Reule, Fullerton, Jeremy Reule, Reno, Nev.

Services: Virginia requests family and friends join her at the Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home Reception Room, 4040 A St., for lunch at noon Thursday, followed by funeral services at 1:15 p.m. The Rev. David Peterson. Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation: 5-9 p.m. today; 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday, with family 5-7 p.m.; 9 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Thursday, all at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Howard Zabel, Leo Yeck, Roger Rada, Larry Schafer, Roger Howsden, Clarence Musil. Honorary pallbearers: Joe Fisher, Edward Rut, Martin, Willard, El Roy Bartels, Don Frain. Memorials: in lieu of flowers, to Tobias Community Church; Temple Baptist Church; or Tabitha Foundation.
