John was a great guy, and a good friend. He will be missed.

My condolences to the family. John and I were on LHS wrestling team together. I remember his off-base sense of humor and his superior physical strength. I remember a match where, from the referee position, John, on the underside, at the whistle, just looked at his opponent and stood straight up. This took an extreme physical effort, but John made it look easy.

This is a difficult in that I first met John well over 65 years ago and also that I have lived in the Denver area for more than 33 years and we never got together. I realize this is a little unusual, but Gene, if you can, maybe you could contact me ([email protected]). My heartfelt condolences to you

My condolences to you, Gene, and the rest of your family. It was a long time ago, but those were the days. They definitely were the days.
