Joyce A. (Ilg) Martin
May 11, 1946 - January 5, 2023
Joyce A. (Ilg) Martin was born May 11, 1946, in Lincoln, NE to Clifford and Leata (Wait) Ilg and passed away at home "her happy place" on January 05, 2023, surrounded by a loving family. Diagnosed with cancer, Joyce never complained about the disease or the treatments and continued to live with a positive outlook.
Joyce attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Joyce married her high school sweetheart Jerry Martin on June 27, 1966. To this marriage two sons were born, Greg and Eric.
Joyce was a loving and devoted stay-at-home mom and entered the workforce later in life, retiring from Nationwide Insurance, Human Resources in 2001.
Joyce's unconditional love and pride for her "boys", her "girls", and grandkids was genuine. All guests were welcomed into her home with love, laughter, and a good meal. She had a keen eye for home décor arrangement, accessory placement, and color schemes. In the late afternoon, you could find her and Jerry enjoying good conversation, smooth jazz, and a glass of wine.
Left to cherish Joyce's memory are husband Jerry; sons Greg (Nicole) Martin, Eric (Meghan) Martin; grandchildren Caden, Callie, Emma, Addison, and Brynlee; brother-in-law George Gammel; sister-in-law Marilyn Ideus; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Joyce is proceeded in death by her parents, sister Barb Gammel, sister in-law Sharon Ernst and daughter-in-law Susan Martin.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM at First Plymouth Congregational Church. Memorials in lieu of flowers to First Plymouth Church Just Neighbors Medical Debt Relief Fund, Mourning Hope, People City Mission.
