Nancy Muehling Obituary
September 9, 1937 - August 12, 2025
Nancy Jane Muehling, age 87, passed surrounded by family on August 12, 2025. Born on September 9, 1937, in Overton, Nebraska, Nancy was the daughter of Delia (Carpenter) McElhinny and Carl McElhinny.
Nancy attended Kearney State College. Her professional career included working at Plectron in Overton, and as a school secretary in Bedford, Iowa. After moving to Lincoln, NE, served as an executive assistant for NCCC, sold insurance for Travelers and served as executive administrator for The Hoppe Group and later founded Acquire Realty.
In 2000, Nancy assumed the role of Executive Director for the Lancaster County Habitat for Humanity, until her retirement in 2015. She earned numerous accolades, including Businessperson of the Year, and Service to Mankind Award recipient
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Eldon Muehling; sons, Brad Muehling (Linda Muehling) and Burt Muehling (Stacy Muehling) of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Beth Muehling of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Lyndsey Muehling, Ellen Zoeller (Kenny), Beau Muehling (Kelsey), Meaghan Druery (Aaron), Justin Muehling, Barrett Muehling, and Hope Muehling; great-grandchildren, Ava Winder-Muehling, Benjamin Zoeller, Maximilian Muehling, and Jane Druery; siblings, Alyce Bauer of Overton, NE, Carol Thomas of Lincoln, NE, and Gene McElhinny of Kearney, NE; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Patsy McElhinny and Connie (Reeder) McElhinny.
Services for Nancy will be held at 10:00 on Tuesday, August 19th, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 S. 84th St.
Visitation will be held from 6-7:30 pm Monday, August 18th at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 O St.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will honor Nancy's legacy in a meaningful way at a future date.
