I have had Daniel Wyatt´s flag in my possession for almost 18 years.

I raised his flag in Fallujah, Iraq in his honor in 2005. He was KIA and a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. I would really like if his family had this flag. I have attempted to reach out several times.

If anyone knows his family, please let them know to contact me or send me their information. Thanks.

To the family of Lance Cpl. Daniel R. Wyatt:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/286-7296) or email the office ([email protected]) and leave your name and contact information.

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday 25 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sunday, 26 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one's cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Well Daniel,
Step one is done. Your dad worked so hard behind the scenes for your memorial, and planning the ceremony. This has been in the process for him since you died. Step two might be harder and we have to get the thing done we planned for your Mom. Dad still wakes up every single night at the exact moment you died....just as he has since Oct. 12, 2004.
By now you have Uncle John with you along with Mom. Dad misses all of you so very much, and not a day passes where you are not thought about and loved.
Jorge and the squad stopped here and you have to know how much he and they all miss you...........and the memories flowed on and on all afternoon. They are and always will be a great bunch of Marines.
Dad kept his silent promise to you and you know he will keep them all, as he always does. The next one might take time, but he will get it done.
You know as well as I do that there have been times of faltering, small failures and problems but you were each other's rocks and each other's worlds. That little gift you gave him still has it's place of honor and still to this day can bring tears.
We all miss you Daniel but know that you are always here around us.
We are keeping the faith hon, keeping the faith!
Love you and love sent to you from all the nieces and nephews. They will always remember this.

In Memory of Daniel ~ (Debra Estep)

October 12, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Daniel, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Well Buddy,
Another anniversary. Seems like only yesterday we were on the computer talking about your plans for when you got home. Who knew that the day before the patrol would be the last we'd ever talk? My biggest comfort is that there at the end, everything was fine among us all. Your last words of love to both your dad and me shows that no matter what, family endures and love grows stronger.
How I wish you were with us now to see your nephew and namesake growing. He looks a lot like you, and is a blessing in our lives. And your new little niece too. They will always know about their Uncle Daniel, and through them, you will live forever, as you do in our hearts always.
Miss you so much Buddy, so much. Not a day goes by, ever, when you aren't thought about and missed deeply.
But on days like this, you are missed even more than we thought possible.
Love you Daniel, you are always in our hearts and soul.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend (KIA on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the family of Lance Cpl. Daniel R. Wyatt:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Memorial Day Sunday worship service at 11:00 a.m. on 27 May, 2007. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the neighboring states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain, LTC Kenneth L. Beale, Jr. will preach a message entitled “Remembering” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and place poppies at each of the crosses. An honor guard squad will be on hand to fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played.

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (612/970-7866) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans’ name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org

Well love, what can I say? Its been alittle over two years and I am still going! There is not one day that I dont think about you, not one moment that I dont wish you were here with me. When we were together, nothing else mattered. We were soul mates. We told each other everything. Shared secrets, thoughts and stories.... Even though I cannot hear them from you, I will continue to keep sharing with you. I share things with you every night and only hope you can hear me. I know when you around, all of your little signs... I miss you and a part of my heart will always be here for you. No one will ever make me feel the way you did. Besides the time we were playing Risk and I was like two moves away from winning and you made up an excuse to turn off the game because you wanted to watch a certain tv show... You would never let me win that game!!! It is memories like those that give me the streangth to keep pushing on. I love you hun and miss you so much!!

Daniel was my cousin. i was so excited for him b/c he joined the USMC... his dream. i've been told and seen through the years that this is what he wanted to do! i've been interested in the military and thought about joining a few months ago but i did not want to sign on the dotted line until Daniel got back b/c i wanted to hear all the stories and see if i could handle it. i wanted teh real aspect and everythign that my recruiters did not share etc. Daniel never returned home, i never heard the stories, i never signed on the line... Daniel passed away doing what he loved! we miss him dearly and he's in our prayers! we miss you Daniel! xoxoxo

To the family and friends

I have only just begun this journey and may not have known your loved one personally. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and felt I needed to extend to you my deepest condolences.

No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one July 8, 2006. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. I only hope the memories will carry us through. I will continue pray that you also will believe and know that our heavenly father will not give us more than we can handle.

As always I read (and cry) through the memorials of our lost hero’s, So many people have already expressed the things I would also say. I am amazed and take comfort that so many people care. I can only thank you for the sacrifice you and especially Daniel have made to protect our country. As others have said “I am only an email away.” I would be honored if you so choose to share about this fine hero.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Dear Daniel,

I'll never forget all the memories we've shared together with you in our home. I will never forget the day you asked us to have our daughter for your loving wife. I always hold the last letter home you gave me, when you called me mom and thanked Dean and I for being there for you when you really needed us. Your always in our hearts and your bedroom still stands as a proud Marine as you always were.

To the family of Daniel Wyatt,

It is with the greatest sympathy that I write this note in regard to the tragic death of Daniel. I should tell you that my son is in the same Marine Corps unit as Daniel, serving in Iraq. My son, LCPL Brian Larson, sent me a very touching email, telling me of the loss of your son. Both Daniel and my son Brian had talked about their love of motorcycles, and their common interest in becoming police officers in the future. I can assure you that my son was hurt very deeply by the loss of Daniel.

Your son was serving his nation at the highest level of Marine Corps tradition, doing so with great honor, courage and commitment, and I will never forget the debt that I owe this great young man. My life, and the entire world are a better place to live in because of men like Daniel.

I know that you have immense pride in your son, as you certainly should. My family will keep Daniel and his loved ones in our prayers.

With greatest sympathy,
