Lloyd Mikulecky Obituary

Lloyd Francis Mikulecky UNION GROVE – Lloyd F. Mikulecky, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born in Racine on July 10, 1927, son of the late Francis “Frank” and Ruth (nee: Brunson) Mikulecky. Lloyd graduated from Wm. Horlick High School. He then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Maryland from 1945 – 1947. On April 23, 1949, he was united in holy matrimony to Lillian Julia Molnar in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, recently celebrating 68 years together. Lloyd began serving as a firefighter in the City of Racine in 1960, retiring as a Captain in 1988. He enjoyed gardening, tending his rose bushes, hunting, fishing, and making frequent trips to Door County and Florida with his wife Lillian. Lloyd also enjoyed meeting his buddies, fellow retired firefighters, on Monday mornings for coffee. More than anything, however, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lillian Mikulecky; children: Janice (Brian) Nelson of Mt. Pleasant, JoAnn Anderson of Mt. Pleasant, Sue (Ron) Eifler of Delafield, Tom (Terry) Mikulecky of Rochester, Robert (Linda) Mikulecky of Mt. He is further survived by his sister Judy Meltzer, brother, Richard Mikulecky, as well as many other relative and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Tom and Bill Mikulecky, his sisters Frances Spang, Lois Hermanson, and Doris Seal. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment and military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Lloyd has requested memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sue, my sincere condolences to you and your family on your loss. I smile when thinking of your father...he never said a word to me when I'd pick you up to go out 40+ years ago! May your fond memories of your father bring you peace in the days ahead.
