Bayard Hoyt Michael

Michael, Bayard Hoyt Of Mequon and Door County, passed away in his home in Door County with his daughters Pam and Kit present on June 14, 2010 and joined his wife Constance on her birthday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Beale (nee McIlwain) Michael, parents, John William and Frances (nee Pound) Michael, and his brothers John and Robert. He will be dearly missed by his children: Pamela Michael Langer, John William (Jeanne) Michael, Katherine Michael (Tony) Dale, and Bayard Campbell Michael. Further survived by his grandchildren: Katherine - Casey (Bereket) Langer Tesfaye, Edwin "Ted" Dale, and Kelly Dale, and his great grandchildren; Saba M. Tesfaye, and Ribka F. Tesfaye. Also survived by his special friend Mary Hoffmann, with whom he learned to live and love again following the death of his wife Constance Beale (nee McIlwain) Michael. Further survived by his sister Nancy "Mike" Wallace and her sons, their spouses, and their families. Further survived by many many friends. He was born July 20, 1922 to Frances (nee Pound) and John William Michael in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The family moved to Wisconsin when his father, John William Michael, was recruited to join a law firm that was to eventually evolve into Michael, Best, and Friedrich. He went to Milwaukee Country Day School followed by Brown University. When he graduated from Brown he began law school at the University of Connecticut. While there he also patented the first helicopter for `old man Sikorski`, a man that he admired for the rest of his life. Soon his father needed his help at the law firm so he left Connecticut, to return to Milwaukee where he finished law school at Marquette University while working at the firm with his father. On Dec. 27, 1947 he married Constance Beale McIlwain. His interests included sailing, skiing, and photography. He will be missed by all. Private services will be held in Door County.
