Charles Krause Obituary

Krause III, Charles A. Charles passed away on Friday June 1, 2018 at the age of 85 years after a stubborn struggle with brain cancer. Charlie is survived by his wife, Roslyn (nee Stearns) of 61 years and their four children: Charles, IV, Kathryn (James) Higgins, William and Timothy; 10 grandchildren: Charles V, Kate, Hope (Alex) Kremer, Leila (James) Gibney, Elizabeth (Clint) Harris, Michelle (Austin) Coleman, Claire, Sarah (James) Campbell-Harris, Jane and Tim; two great-grandchildren: Sawyer and James and sisters, Victoria Mayer and Carol (Richard) Wythes. After graduating from Yale University, he ran the Krause Milling Company. Throughout his career, Charlie found time to commit to various charitable organizations that mirrored his interests in music, stage performance and sports opportunities for Milwaukee youngsters. He was always ready to handle any job that needed doing, particularly when goals were set and realized together with the staff and volunteers. His leadership was grounded on the theory that no matter what his personal effort, credit for success went, not to him, but to everyone working on the project. Three of his favorites include the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Kids from Wisconsin and Milwaukee Urban Soccer Collaborative. Charlie was extremely grateful to be part of the research efforts at the Froedtert Cancer Center. The memorial service is on Friday June 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at ST. CHRISTOPHER'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, 7845 N. River Rd., River Hills. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church - Endowment Fund, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Froedtert Memorial Hospital- Oncology Department or The Kids from Wisconsin.

I enjoyed working at your company. Thank you for the scholarship program. Thank you, also, for the philanthropy around Milwaukee including the penguin exhibit at the zoo.

During my time at the MSO I had the honor to work with Charlie.

I will always remember our meetings and his kind, affirming, professional and respectful countenance.
