David Sczesny Obituary

Sczesny, David William Our "Golden Child," our beautiful son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend left this world on his own terms, Thursday, January 16, 2014. David was a bone marrow transplant survivor thanks to his donor "EARL" Ben Walker and the expert treatment and wonderful care that he received at Children's Hospital of WI. Our thanks and gratitude to his doctors Dr. James Casper, Mollie Haddigan Mulberry and the staff of the BMT clinic. Both Ben and his doctors gave David 5 more years of life. David was born March 31st, 1992 and Baptized on June 13th, 1992. At birth he weighed a whopping 10lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 in. long. David was a special boy who grew into a special man. He was sweet, loving, smart, and kind throughout his life. He graduated from St. Matthias grade school (2006) and Whitnall High School (2010) On June 24, 2008 he went to an American Red Cross blood drive and would have been the first 16 year old to donate blood in WI. He was told that he was anemic and could not donate blood that day. Through a series of doctors over the next couple of months David was diagnosed on September 12, 2008 with MDS (myelodyspastic syndrome) and he needed a bone marrow transplant. His donor match, "EARL" Ben Walker was found in December of 2008 and he had the transplant on February 20, 2009. David courageously battled the evils of cancer and its aftermath until his death. Son of Gene and Mary (nee Ochowicz) Sczesny, sister and best friend of Alexandra, grandson of the late Erwin and Jeanne Ochowicz and Shirley Sczesny and the late Ervin Sczesny. Further survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends and let's not forget both his canine companions, the late Tula and Elisabeth. Visitation at the Funeral Home, Monday, January 20, 3-745 PM. Service 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to benefit the Bone Marrow Registry at www.davidsdonors.com.

I did not know David.I light this candle for your Golden one.He was brave. The anxiety of knowing how many years he had left must have broke his heart . Bless David and your entire family. We all will meet with same fate , we know not when.

To know David was to love him more each day. His life was golden indeed, his suffering a loving gesture of God's grace. His being here with us will never leave...his spirit is eternal. I will meet you, David, waiting in the house of our Lord. Auntie Dianne Ochowicz
