Dorothea K. "Doris" Schermer

Schermer, Dorothea K. "Doris" Longtime resident of Fox Point, Wisconsin. Died, Wednesday, November 7, 2012, after a long term battle with illness at the age of 74 years. Born in Landstuhl, Germany on March 21, 1938 to Albert Schermer and Maria Schermer. Survived by her two sons, Franz Schermer of Grafton, WI and Chef Charles Schermer of Philadelphia, PA. And their respective wives Sherry Williams and Monika Schermer. Most besotted Bubbe of five grandchildren; Zachary, Ian, Hannah, Daniel, and Nicole. Beloved sister of Adolf Schermer, Fritz Schermer, Klaus Schermer, Elisabeth Hoppe and sister-in-law of Magdalena, Elfriede, Edeltraut, and Lothar Hoppe. Honored aunt of Fritz Schermer, Martin Schermer, Klaus Schermer, Elisabeth Schermer, Gerlinde Schermer and Patrick Hoppe. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at 11 AM conducted by Rabbi Ronald Shapiro in the Kesselman Chapel at CONGREGATION SHALOM (7630 North Santa Monica Boulevard). Reception to follow. Doris studied at Heidelberg University in Germany. She was the owner and founder of Schermer Enterprises, also known as "Paper Rosie Inc.", was a lifelong member of Congregation Shalom and very active with the National Organization for Women from 1974-1978. Late in life, Doris enjoyed her grandchildren most of all. She would engage anyone who was interested in lively political discussions, was a lover of Classical and Opera music and she had a voracious appetite for literature and history.
