He was among the best teachers I ever had at West Allis Central. His world history class was a fascinating and thought-provoking course that made many of us realize the threads of the past remain connected to current events. For this alumnus, his class also sparked a long-term personal interest in foreign travel and classical civilizations. Be thou at peace Mr Stech.

I obviously wasn't a wrestler--don't forget he was a Social Studies teacher first. He always kept us on our toes with his sense of humor. I was in his class when word circulated that Kennedy had been shot. He ran out into the hallway to find out what was going on--and came back white in the face. He'll be missed.

Thank you Mr. Stech for your dedication to the sport of wrestling. You helped so many people have opportunities to grow with the running of tournaments such as the AAU for many many years. I express my sympathy to your family and close friends. God bless, Bob Kopecky

There is an old saying, "If something is worth doing, it is worth doing well." It is a fitting epitaph for Coach Stech.

Coach Stech: What comes to mind? Education above athletics. Athletics as a conduit for athletes to become successful students and contributing members of society. Morals, Ethics, and Excellence in everything that he did, from mentoring WAC wrestling coaches to making sure that the lines of every Central wrestling mat were accurate and placed correctly, to serving the West Allis-West Milwaukee school district. Need help? Call Ed! If he couldn't get it done, one of his former wrestlers could.
Ed was dedicated to the WAC wrestling family and would do anything to promote it's success. But most important to be a father figure to any wrestler who needed his guidance and support. Many, many, many have said "Thank you" coach Stech. He will be missed!!

The sport of wrestling lost a great pioneer and advocate. The entire West Allis Wrestling Community was influenced in one way or another by Ed Stech and all his years of service to the School District and greater community.

On behalf of the St. Thomas More HS community I'd like to offer my condolences. As the head coach of the STM wrestling team, I had the pleasure to work with Ed and I am grateful for all he did to promote the sport. The WA Central tournament was touted as one of the best, largely due to Ed's knowledge of the
sport , organizational skills and boundless energy. Our thoughts and prayers go with him as well as the Stech family. The legacy he has left will continue through all the lives he has touched. God bless.
