Further survived by his parents, Hugo and Alice (Boggie) Wandt, his in-laws, Charles and Janet Dougherty and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Keith and Diane Dougherty. I just tried to find Hugo for a legal matter and discovered this news. We were not often in touch except for when I turned to him for legal help. I went to high school with him. I remember him from then as a compassionate person. I thought he was a wonderful man and I'm extremely saddened to find he is no longer with us. And I know of him now that we both have a wife and two daughters and that he is gone, that I nearly lost my life this week in a vehicle crash. That life is short. Kindness and love are the most valuable things we possess in this life. He had both in large quantity and was always willing to share.

Hugo was my first friend when we moved to Brookfield in 3rd grade, I lost touch with him when we moved 5 years later but have always fondly remembered fun times with him and his family.

So extremely saddened by this news. Mrs. Wandt - your grief must be unimaginable in that you lost two of your children so close to one another. No words, just hope that you somehow make it through the upcoming holidays.
Peace be with you.

Deb, Jackie and Jen.... I am so sorry to hear that Hugo passed. He was such a great family guy. He was never shy about discussing his admiration for his girls successes whether it was about soccer, swimming, school or life in general. This will likely be a hard holiday season for you. May you find some peace in knowing you now have your own personal angel watching over your lives. Always remember, crying doesn't mean you're weak, it only means you loved so deep.

To the family of Hugo,
Our deepest sympathy and prayers to all of Hugo's family. Hugo was our attorney. He helped Mary through her divorce and previous to that he was a beloved attorney and friend of Mary's parents, Pat and Bill Sura. He was fair and funny and gave the best advice, and most of all showed much care and concern while managing to have a relationship of friendship and professionalism. God has called a good one home. Rest in peace, Hugo.

I met Hugo when he worked at Roundys Foods as summer help, going through college. We became friends, took our lunch breaks together and talked about so many things. We both had Corvettes at the time, so that often was the topic. That was over 35 years ago. I remember Hugos white 1970 ish Corvette with the Bailys Harbor Yacht Club decal on the rear window. I think of him every time that I see a white Corvette. At the time I was 5 years older than him. I remember him as a very kind and sincere young man. When I saw his name in this mornings paper, I was speechless. So sad. I hope all of you....both family and friends will be o.k............. I needed to tell you that......Respectfully yours, Ron Bastian

Hugo was my college roommate in 1979-80 at UW at 104 Langdon. He was a dear friend. We discovered that our parents were also good friends. His love of life, his level headed perspective, and his smile are some of things I remember most. Was fortunate to have had lunch and reconnect with Hugo a year or so ago. Friends like Hugo are always in your heart...somewhere. There's a piece of my heart that's missing today. XO to the family.

Dear Debbie and girls, The perfect words are hard to find. Don and I were so surprise when we heard about Hugo. I will always remember the days when he would pick up the girls from our house. He was a perfect dad. I hope just knowing that we care helps.
