As I think about days gone by I remember your family and mine in Milwaukee hanging out at your pool, us swimming and our parents listening to music, laughing and drinking.

I met Julie when he came to Seattle a few years back - he was meeting up with his old friend who'd been his Millie's maid of honor when he was first married. I work at the Visitor Center in Seattle, and talked to him many, many times as he planned the trip - including a special dinner for the two of them at the Space Needle's SkyCity restaurant. When he finally came to the area to meet his friend, I spent the morning on Bainbridge Island and had breakfast with the two of them. Julie was a pip! He left messages for me every couple of months, and every time they made me smile. They always began with, "Annie baby ...!" which he'd sing on my voicemail. Although I don't have the long history as many of his friends did, Julie touched my life. I tried calling him today - since our Seattle Seahawks play his Packers on Sunday - and had a bad feeling when I heard the fast-busy signal. Although I don't know Scooter and John, he talked about both of you frequently and with great pride. Thanks for sharing your dad with me in such a special way. :)

We lost a great friend, fun loving, sincere and patriotic. As an aircraft gunner, made numerous missions during WWII. UNSUNG HERO.
We miss him, but will catch up.
