West Allis - Passed to Eternal Life Thursday, February 27, 2020, age 72 years. Beloved husband of Janice M. Hansen (nee Lemanske). Dear father of Dr. Mary (Chris)
Bister-Crawford, Julie (Dan Stanley) Bister and Samantha (Jennifer) Bister. Stepfather of Matthew Hansen. Brother of Steve (Nancy) Bister and the late Twyla Hill. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Born and raised on a farm near Marquette, NE, singer/songwriter Larry Bister had been performing professionally for most of his life. He is a seasoned veteran of country, folk, blues, and rock & roll. Lar was a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar as his principal instrument, as well as many others. Lar performed regularly with Texas '55, a Milwaukee based classic country band, as well as with his wife, Jan Leman, in the Jan Leman Band. Lar also had an active solo career. In 2016 he released "Cottonwoods" his first solo album. Ten of the twelve songs on the album were written by Lar and he played all of the instruments. He also sang all of the vocal parts. Visitation Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Bevsek-Verbick Funeral Home-West Allis 4PM until time of Funeral Service at 6PM. Employee of ACIS (Air Cargo) at Mitchell Field. Lar's wife and family would like to thank all of the staff at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, and especially the staff of the VA Hospice, for the quality of their care and for treating Lar with dignity and respect. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Fisher House appreciated.

Wow. I was just thinking about the great times Larry and I had in an Omaha based band, back in 1970-71, with Bob Mendenhall, Cathy Scott, Eric Hansen, John Jamieson, and myself. Larry was the glue of the group, always keeping the spirit on the positive side. Those were great times and I know he's now jammin' on the other side, still, with that big smile on his face.

I will always remember as part of the band Past-Time with my dad, Dave. The band would always practice in our basement but when they would break for drinks or snacks, Larry always made a point to say hello and make small talk. He was always so friendly and caring. Larry you were an amazing artist and touched a lot of lives with your talents. May you continue your journey and play with the manybgreat artists that have gone before you. To Larry's family - my deepest condolences and prayers during this difficult time. Mary & Julie - we didn't talk much in school but your father was an amazing man and I send you hugs and prayers as you remember the good times.

Larry was a great guy, who had a way of making everyone he came across feel good about themselves. And his ability to make music was as enormous as his giant heart.

We will miss Larry so much! He was a wonderful man, always smiling, and that voice! My husband and I were lucky to call him a friend. I will cherish the calendars and CD he gave us.

A big man with a big heart, and a great musician and singer. We only met twice, but Larry Bister left an impression on my outlook. Sincerest condolences to Jan, and to his family.
