Michael Sullivan Obituary

Age 56, of Jefferson. Pronounced dead Monday, August 15, 2005. Died as a result of a boating accident on Lake Winnebago on Saturday, August 13, 2005.

He was born on October 3, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of the late Michael Patrick and Catherine (Stapleton) Sullivan.

He married Judy Motelet on July 7, 1973 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Milwaukee.

Mike had been a licensed pilot since the age of 17. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1970. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy, with an Associate Degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. He began his career with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in 1972, and retired from there in 2000, and taught Law Enforcement and Administration at Mt. Scenario. He also was a flight instructor for Wisconsin Aviation Inc. for 25 years. Following his retirement from the Sheriff's Department, Mike began working for Prent Corporation of Janesville as a Corporate Pilot for the past 5 years.

He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3589 Endl-Grunnert, and the American Legion Post 164-Reinhardt-Windl, a member of the National FBI Academy Association, and the Emerald Society.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, three daughters; Brenna Sullivan of Madison, Dr. Shelby Sullivan of St. Louis, MO, and Casey Sullivan of Milwaukee, two sisters; Patricia Sullivan of Phoenix, AZ, and Kathy (Tim) Hochshild of Okauchee, WI, and one brother-in-law; Steve Chanos of Florida. He is preceded in death by two sisters; Mary Chanos and Eileen Meir, one brother; Thomas Sullivan, and one brother-in-law; Hank Meir.

Mike was very proud of his Irish heritage, so in his memory an "Irish Wake" will be held on Friday, August 19th from 2:00-7:00 p.m., with a Ceremony and Military rites to be held at 4:00p.m. at the Wisconsin Aviation Main Hanger in Watertown.

The family suggests memorials be given in Mike's name to Cops-Kids. A fund has been established at the County-City Credit Union 106 East John Street, Jefferson, Wisconsin 53549.

Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson is assisting the family with arrangements

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the hard work and dedication to the many Dive Teams and Departments that assisted in the search and recovery efforts.

My wife and I are deeply sadden to hear of mike's passing.We grew up in the same neighborhood,Mike and I played in a band in the early 60's had some good times together.Three of us were irish so the name of the band was the Banshee's. I wish I would have stayed in closer touch with mike over the years. We will remember him always.GOD BLESS ALL Clayton and Kathy Grant. a.k.a tatty
