Sonja Schroeder

Schroeder, Sonja (Nee Polterman) (formerly: Ebert) (AKA The Mighty Red Sonja) 79, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, entered her Lord's kingdom, April 2, 2018. She now travels the cosmos without her oxygen tank, which she's pretty pumped about. She was a loyal friend, loving mother, hysterical grandma and devoted wife with a beautiful heart that will be greatly missed by every life she touched. Sonja had a life long love affair with gardening and grew flowers as wild and beautiful as her spirit. She had a knack for telling it like it is, which is evident from a note that hung over her garden for many years that read: "This area has been chemically treated!!! If your animal gets sick, THAT'S ON YOU!!!" South 17th street will surely miss the "street mayor" who watched over the neighborhood and chatted with everyone from the perch of her porch. If she had five dollars, she'd give you 4 -- and she made a friend out of every human she has ever met. She will be greatly, greatly missed. Sonja leaves behind a loving family and is survived by her husband Vaughn Schroeder, whom she married in 1988 and leaves behind two children Greg (Karen) Ebert and Donna (the late Lee) Pavlicek; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Nicole, Destiny, Kyle and LJ and leaves behind 6 great grandchildren in addition to her sibling, Bruce (Kay) Polterman along with other close relatives and friends who she loved dearly.
