Hampel, Vera (Nee Basic ) Born February 28, 1930 in Croatia. Passed away peacefully on June 29, 2016, age 86. Preceded in death by her parents, Vinko and Vilhelmina. Beloved wife of the late Felix. Loving mother of the late John (Ljubica) and Viktor (Maureen). Dear grandmother of Joseph (Annie), James, Andrew and Katherine. Great-grandmother of Violet. Dear sister of Marijan (Ljuba), Barbara, the late Jela, the late Vinca and the late Anica. Loving sister-in-law of Andrew (Katarina), the late Peter (Helene), the late Karl (Marija), the late Theresa (the late Josip) and Katarina (the late Josip). Further survived by many nieces and nephews in the United States, Croatia and Germany. A special thank you to Dr. Goran Rudic and his staff, as well as the compassionate caregivers and staff at Professional Home Care Services and Vitas Ruth Hospice. Vera was at her happiest when she was making soup and cutlets for her family or cooking with the ladies at Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Vitas Ruth Hospice Employee Fund or Sacred Heart Parish. Visitation will be held Saturday at Sacred Heart Parish, 917 N. 49th Street, 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
