Aimie "Pookie" Collins

Aimie "Pookie" Cunningham Collins, age 85, a native and resident of Chauvin, LA entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 23, 2025. A visitation will be held in her honor on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chauvin, Louisiana from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. The burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chauvin, Louisiana. Pookie spent her most days taking care of her family and her special needs grandson, Keith for the better part of 30 years. She loved all of her grandchildren with all her heart. Pookie loved watching the Saints with Keith and visiting on the front porch with her best friend, Jean Detiveaux as well as her daily telephone conversations with her sister, Sue. She truly enjoyed visits from her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Pookie is survived by her daughters: Pauline (Chris) Martin, Melissa Collins and April (Faron) Authement; sister, Bernadette Sue Luke; grandchildren: Corey Collins, Keith Simon, Stanley Collins, Annie (Tommy) Gros, Maggie (Riccky) Friloux, Sammy Gaston, Allison (Chase) Fortenberry, Macie Authement; and 11 great-grandchildren. Pookie was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Louis Peter Collins; son, Audie Collins; brother, Charles Cunningham, Sr.; and parents: Gillis and Flavia Babin Cunningham. Special thanks to the staff at Terrebonne General, especially the nurses on the fourth floor and CCU nurses: Angelle Lyons and Hailey Alcorn; Dr. Peomia Brown; and also thanks to Father Joseph Lapeyrouse for speaking the final rights and supporting the family through this difficult time. Her daughter April would like to say a special thank you to her Nanny Sue, her cousin, Amy, niece, Maggie, and her friend, Michelle for supporting her and helping her in this time of grief.
