Deanna Liebl Obituary

Liebl, Deanna Jane Born in Larned, KS on November 12, 1954, to Mary Jane and David Paul Roper, Deanna passed away November 22, 2016. She was an extraordinarily accomplished artist who expressed her talent through her unique and successful businesses. She started an interior design company where she created comfortable, yet chic, environments that always reflected her client's personality and lifestyle. When her interests were drawn to the versatility of designing food, she applied and was accepted to the renowned Peter Krump's Institute of Culinary Education in New York City where she graduated with a specialization in Pastry and Baking. She continued her training at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York where she studied the Elements of Chocolate and Ice Carving. These skills, along with her innate talent, allowed her to develop a successful business designing and creating wonderfully detailed custom cakes and desserts for corporate and celebrity events, weddings, as well as society and charitable functions in Wichita, Kansas City, and Aspen, Co. At the time of her death, Deanna, along with her friend and business partner, Amy Tarrant, co-owned Too Haute Cowgirls, a well-known confection company they developed specializing in unique flavors of gourmet popcorn. Deanna will be remembered for her spontaneity, her fun loving sense of humor, her deep love of animals, her imagination and creativity, and her determination to conquer each challenge she encountered. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Deanna was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jane and David Paul Roper. She is survived by her husband, Robert Liebl; sisters, Robin Elizabeth (Karl) Zavitkovsky of Dallas, TX, Jennifer Sue (Tom) Fishback of Fairfield, IA and Vanessa Lynn Viviano of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Deanna's name to your favorite animal rescue service.

This will sound really strange. Deanna and I were spirts of the same order. My parents grew up in Larned, and I was born in Lawrence, but ended up moving across the street when I was in 3rd grade. She was 3 months older, but from 3rd grade until we moved back to Lawrence my freshman year. We were our first boyfriend and girlfriend. I had forgotten about Deanna and 50 years later I had a vision. We were sitting in Heaven I guess and was talking to me and holding my hand on this beautiful Bar like table that went on forever and golden walls that shined with light. I don't know what she was telling me, but both of us were so happy to see each other. Finally, She kissed me and I woke up. I had a great mission to find her sisters, and finally found Jennifer. I wrote to here of this vision and how my life turned out to be a artist also. Jennifer wrote me back, a beautiful letter and said she would call the other two sisters. Well that was truly a vision that I never expected, but were like two peas in a pod, always together, and our first true loves.

I was saddened to learn of Deanna's passing. I was also in her West High School class of '72. I still have some of the graduation announcements she made for me.

It makes me so sad to hear of Deanna's passing! Bob, please know my thoughts are with you. She was truly one of my best friends when we were younger and I loved her very much. She had amazing artistic talent in so many ways and man could that girl dance!!! Disco that is! I'm assuming the Celebration of her Life will be in Carbondale. To Deanna's sisters, I am so sorry for yet another loss in your life! The world has lost a beautiful person.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Deanna's passing. She was in my high school class of 1972 at West High School. We lost track of her and have missed her gorgeous smile and her laughter. Such a talented woman. Several of us are interested in attending her celebration of life if we can get details. Rest in peace, Deanna. You truly made this world a more beautiful place.
