Jeffrey Alan Pickering

Pickering, Jeffrey Alan 58, cherished son, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 30, 2017. Born in Topeka, KS February 14, 1958. Jeff was a graduate of Wichita East High School and graduated from Wichita State University - Sigma Cum Laude - with a degree in Anthropology. A beloved member of the Wichita music community, Jeff was a talented and respected songwriter, musician and recording artist. Jeff was also a member of many local bands specializing in pedal steel guitar for over 40 years. Jeff published his first CD "Retrospect" in 2011. Jeff shared the stage with many famous artists which included, Hank Williams Jr., Hoyt Axton, Merle Haggard and George Strait. Jeff is preceded in death by his father, James Marion Pickering; younger brother, James Lee Pickering; and younger sister, Jenae Diane Arbuckle. He is survived by his stepfather, Ralph Arbuckle; mother, Anita (Tarpy) Arbuckle; daughters, Jessica Pickering-Sazama, Abigail Pickering; two grandsons, Zachary and Isaiah Sazama; two stepsisters, Paula Halstead and Donna Kestler. A Celebration of Jeff's Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Abode Venue, 1330 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, KS 67214.
