ANTHONY WEBER Obituary

Anthony Keith Weber, age 68, Mission Hills, Kan,, passed away Friday, February 18, 2011, at Saint Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas. After four years of fighting the strongest battle imaginable against kidney cancer, Keith left this world in peace surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Stine and McClure Chapel, 3235 Gilham Plaza, Kansas City, Mo. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Kansas City Country Club. Keith was preceded in death by his father, Anton Weber. He is survived by his mother, Alice, his brother, Chuck, his wife, Margie, his daughters, Leslie and Tricia, his sons-in-law, Scott Olrich and Patrick Youssi and his grandchildren, Zachary, Tanner, Colgin, Trevor and Alexa. Keith was born April 27, 1942, in Jefferson City, Mo. Keith attended Jefferson City Senior High School where he was elected class president and was one of only two students from the state of Missouri to be selected to Boys Nation in 1959. Keith attended the University of Missouri where he received a bachelor's degree in economics and the degree of Juris Doctorate. While in college, he excelled in football and baseball. Keith still holds the lowest career ERA record in the NCAA Division I. He was the team Captain and received all-American honors. He was one of three pitchers chosen in the U.S. to pitch for the U.S. Olympic Team in the 1964 Olympics held in Japan. Later, he signed with the New York Mets. He was also a quarterback for the Missouri Tigers. Keith's Senior year he was selected into Mystical Seven and The QEBH society, two honorary societies based on leadership, academics and contribution to the University: Keith served as assistant varsity football coach for four years under Dan Devine while attending law school at Missouri University. Later in 1998, Keith was inducted to the Intercollegiate Athletics MU Hall of Fame. Keith met Margie Farmer, his wife-to- be, as a Freshman in high school. They dated throughout high school and college and were married in 1965. Following graduation, the Webers moved to Kansas City where Keith started his Real Estate career which took them to Dallas where he became one of the Vice Presidents of Redman Development Corporation. The Webers moved back to Kansas City in 1972 and Keith founded Midland Properties, Inc. which developed and managed apartment properties starting in Kansas and Missouri and evolved nationally. In 1991, Keith, together with his business partner, founded Midland Loan Services which became one of the nation's largest servicers of commercial loans. Throughout his life, Keith loved sports, especially golf. He made time to play regularly enjoying the outdoors and the fellowship of his friends, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be incredibly missed but never forgotten. Dear Margie,
You have often been in my thoughts and prayers since your letter was read at our class reunion last summer. I'm so sorry for your loss. . Do you remember first seeing Keith at Simonsen Junior High in his bright orange sweater as the "new boy"? He caused quite a stir! He became a role-model, a true hero, and an inspiration to so many of us as we traveled through junior and senior high school together. Your family photos at the reunion were such a blessing to see. I'm sure Keith will be deeply missed by each one. Please know both Hank and I extend our condolences and our love to you.
