Daniel Carlson Obituary
May 24, 1956 - January 17, 2024
Kansas City, Missouri - Daniel H. Carlson unexpectedly passed away on January 17, 2024, of natural causes. Born and raised in Independence, MO, he was a 1974 graduate of Truman High School. He also attended UMKC. He lived in Kansas City from 1980 until his death.
He loved friends and family and the Royals and the Chiefs. He especially loved Boy Scouts. An Eagle Scout and a member of Mic-O-Say, he served as an assistant scoutmaster of Troop 24 and looked forward every year to the 10-day summer session at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. He was also famous for his homemade egg nog, a treat enjoyed by Christmas party attendees for many years. He was married and divorced twice, first to Nancy Martin and then to Marjorie Wages, with whom he had three children. He retired in 2020 after 28 years as a federal employee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion J. Carlson and Willard C. Carlson, and his step-mother, Ruby Carlson. He is survived by his brother, Dwight Carlson (Anne), and his children, Elise Carlson, Matthew Carlson (Carolyn) and Ethan Carlson, and numerous cousins in the Kansas City area and in California and North Dakota.
Pursuant to his wishes he was cremated and there was no funeral. A celebration of his life will be held in May, his birth month. No details have been determined at this time. Feel free to contact Dwight Carlson if you would like to know the arrangements when they are finalized
