Helen Flemington Obituary
September 30, 1943 - December 27, 2022
St. Louis, Missouri - Sr. Helen Flemington, CSJ, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Nazareth Living Center, St. Louis, Missouri in the loving care of her fellow Sisters of Saint Joseph.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Grace (Conrad) Flemington and her brother, Alexander Flemington, Jr. She is survived by her brother James Flemington and sisters Mary (William) Tarnow, Jean (Cary) Seem, Patricia McMurtray and Barbara (HP) Livers. During her lifetime, Helen was a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and a friend and inspiration to countless others whom she met throughout her ministry.
Helen truly treasured being a part of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet who were her religious family for over 60 years. During those 60 years, Helen served her community through various assignments in Missouri and Illinois and her ministry included work as a teacher, a principal, a pastoral minister, a pastoral administrator, a mission advisor and a member of the Provincial Leadership team for the Sisters of St. Joseph. She also served as a Trustee on the Board of Avila University and on the Board of St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Helen will always be remembered for her easy smile, her quick wit, her generous spirit, her deep dedication to her faith, her passion for sports and her love of family.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Helen's life will be offered by the Sisters of St. Joseph at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in the Chapel at Nazareth Living Center, St. Louis, Missouri.
A Memorial Mass will also be held at St. Therese Little Flower Parish, Kansas City, Missouri where Helen took special joy in serving the people of the parish and being active in the community she dearly loved. Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, St. Louis Province, 6400 Minnesota Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63111-2899.

Deepest sympathy to the Flemington siblings, especially Patricia, on the death of your sister. I met Patty (Pat in those days!) when we lived in the dorm at McCollum at KU. Our two sets of parents, Alex & Grace, Roy & Mary Ellen, knew each other from way back. It´s a small world when you make a friend a long way from home & then come to realize that your parents have known each other for years & are friends, too! All the best to you all.
