JACQUELINE STOA Obituary

JACQUELINE G. "JACKIE" STOA Jacqueline G. ("Jackie") Stoa, age 79, Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 22, 2013. Jacqueline Joanne Giffin was born May 27, 1934 in Hibbing, MN, the daughter of Loren Freeman and Edith May (Crothers) Giffin. Jackie was a graduate of Minneapolis Central High (1952), Hibbing Junior College (1955) and Macalester College (1957). She taught at Cobb Cook School in Hibbing, MN and at Park Hill School in St Louis Park, MN. She was a substitute teacher in Grand Forks, ND and a Montessori assistant at Notre Dame de Sion School in Kansas City, MO. She married Gordon A. Stoa on June 22, 1963 in Minneapolis, MN. They made their home in Grand Forks, ND, Minneapolis, MN, and Shawnee, KS until moving to Phoenix in 1997. Jackie is survived by a loving family, her husband of 51 years, Gordon, two stepsons and a daughter: Terry A. (Heather) Stoa, Decatur, IL; Jeffrey G. (Marcella) Stoa, Buxton, ND; and Stephanie Denae Knutson (Andy) of Denver, CO. Four grandchildren: Brandon (Lisa) Stoa, Grand Forks, ND; Kristin Bainbridge (Kirk), Des Moines, IA, Ryan (Elizabeth Luedtke) Stoa, Summit Hill, PA; and Kassidy (Dustin) Robles, East Grand Forks, MN. Six great grandchildren: Jessa and Emmy Robles, Wesley and Collin Bainbridge, Zach and Lauren Farrell. Brother: Richard L. Giffin, Phoenix, AZ and numerous cousins. Her parents preceded her in death. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or the Independence Fund's All Terrain Wheelchair (independence fund. org/#!track-chairs/c1qsz ) project. A celebration of Jackie's life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 3:00 pm at her home in Phoenix.
