Destin , Florida - James Jeffrey Littrell, age 72, Destin FL, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, after a sudden illness. Jeff was deeply loved by family and friends and will be profoundly missed.
Jeff was preceded in death by the love of his life Donna Littrell, his parents James (Jim) Littrell, Mary Lu Neuhaus and stepfather David Neuhaus, plus stepbrothers Erik and John Neuhaus.
Jeff is survived by Donna's six children whom he loved as deeply as he did Donna, as well as 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren through that marriage. Jeff is also survived by: his three sisters Cindy Littrell, Vicki Henry and Jill Littrell (husband Ek Buys) with nieces and a nephew; stepmother Mary Lou Littrell; two paternal cousins Preston Haddan (wife Linda) and Cynthia Futch (husband Jack) and their families; and stepsiblings Robert Neuhaus (wife Amy), Anne Mella (husband Jaime), and Peter Neuhaus (wife Rosy) and their families.
Jeff grew up in Kansas City, MO, with his loving family, Old Pike Country Club, the famous Plaza Lights, Westport and many other adventures. He received a BA in History from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Jeff was a passionate drummer and keyboardist and played in bands his whole life from his first band, Patches of Blue, in the early 60s to the current JPT Scare Band (the initials of Jeff Littrell, Paul Grigsby and Terry Swope).
Jeff was Director of Okaloosa County Water and Sewer in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where he was highly regarded as a legendary, visionary leader for over 25 years. A celebration of Jeff's life was held on June 22, 2023, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, Fort Walton Beach, FL.
