John H. Windsor, Jr.
February 27, 1927 - December 9, 2020
Overland Park, Kansas - John H Windsor Jr, 93, died Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 in Kansas City Missouri. Memorial and Celebration of life services will be suspended due to the pandemic but will be held on a future date. Any contribution in his honor can be made to Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral, Tenth and Broadway, Kansas City MO 64105 or a charity of choice.
Mr. Windsor was born in Booneville, MO on February 27, 1927 to John and Caroline Windsor. He attended public schools in Booneville and was graduated from Kemper Military School there. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1952. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served in the US Navy at the end of World War II and in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He practiced law with the Dietrich, Tyler & Davis firm in Kansas City until he joined Bruening Properties in 1961 and served as its president until the company was dissolved after which he formed his own firm.
He was a member of Grace & Holy Trinity Cathedral, the University Club, the Kansas City Club and the Mercury Club. He served in various civic and community organizations including the Visiting Nurses Association, the Citizens Association, the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Inc, the Downtown Council, and the Civic Council. He was past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kemper Military School and College, past Chairman of the Development Fund of the University of Missouri-Columbia, and past President of the Building Owners & Management Association International.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joan Coulter, Betty Bowen, his former wife, Carolyn, and his son, John H Windsor III. He is survived by his wife Helen Brainerd Windsor, his son, Paul C Windsor of Kansas City, three step-children, Katherine Crouch of Seattle, WA, Frances Crouch Canter and her husband Bill of Rogers, AR, Thomas T Crouch and his wife Paula, of Walnut Creek, CA, and seven step-grandchildren, Joe and Olivia Ubaldi, Helen, Mathew, and Ben Manuel, and Reina and Spencer Crouch.
