Pat was born December 10, 1961, in Portland, OR. He grew up in Overland Park and Leawood, KS. He attended Christ the King Elementary School and Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, MO. In 1976, he toured Europe with his Aunt, Uncle and cousins, the Dawsons. That led to his love of Europe. He enjoyed summers at the McCaffrey cabin in Park Rapids, MN. He also spent summers visiting his father's extended D'Arcy and Ryan families in Delavan, IL. Pat earned a degree in English from Georgetown University and his JD from the University of Kansas School of Law. He joined the US Navy Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps in 1989 and served until 1993, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Stationed in Naples, Italy, he served in Desert Storm during the Gulf War and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (1991) and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (1993) for meritorious service. After his military service, he practiced criminal defense law in Kansas City, KS. Pat was a proud member of Wichita VFW Post 3115 and American Legion Kansas Post 199. An avid reader and talented writer, he enjoyed chess, music, good food, and traveling with his wife, Alisa. His quiet kindness and adventurous spirit touched many lives and will be deeply missed.

Pat leaves behind his wife, Alisa, and four stepchildren: Anne Breitenstein (Adriana), Hugh Breitenstein, Elizabeth Kump (Andrew), and Kathleen Breitenstein. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Ryan D'Arcy and Rosemary Lucille McCaffrey and two sisters, Kathleen and Kieran. He is survived by his brother, Brian D'Arcy (Katie), nephews Michael and Thomas, and nieces Mary and Kieran. He is also survived by numerous members of the Dawson, McCaffrey and Ryan families.
