Shawnee, Kansas - Robert Charles "Bob" Meehan, 88, of Shawnee, KS passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, the Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, 9720 W. 87th St., Overland Park, KS, 66212. Bob was born March 14, 1933 to the late Thomas "Charlie" and Margaret Meehan in Marcus, Iowa. He graduated from Holy Name High School in 1951. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa in 1955. Shortly after graduation, Bob was drafted into the United States Army and served at Ft. Chaffee, AR until his discharge in 1958. While in the service, Bob married Barbara Ann McGarrity of Danbury, IA on April 2, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 25, 1990. From that union came seven children, Mary Kay, Dennis, Patricia Ann, Maureen, Kathy, Daniel and Trish. On October 10, 1992 Bob married Janet Sloan. Bob's life centered around his family and faith. He was an active member of St. Joseph Parish where he served as a Eucharistic minister, RCIA instructor, and served the less fortunate at St. Mary's Food Kitchen. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was a true patriarch and will always be remembered as a man of the highest ethics, morals and integrity. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann, a son in law, Mark Sageser, grandson, Ryan Sageser and brother Edmund Meehan. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Janet Meehan; six children, Mary Kay Solomon and husband Frank Landers; Dennis Meehan and wife Kimberly; Maureen Sageser; Kathy Meehan-Graves and husband Steve; Daniel Meehan and wife Rebecca; Trish Meehan-Oswald and husband Jeff; 14 grandchildren, CJ Solomon and wife Amelia; Philip Solomon and wife Emily; Evan Meehan and wife Alyssa; Lauren Meehan; Ethan Sageser and wife Maren; Logan Sageser and wife Sydney; Tyler Graves; Mitchell Graves and wife Emily; Robbie Meehan; Mikaela Meehan, McKenzie Meehan; Alexander Oswald; Meghan Oswald; Colleen Oswald; 8 great grandchildren, Lexi Solomon, Samantha Solomon, Christopher Solomon, Jackson Solomon, Tanner Solomon, Deacon Meehan, Sawyer Meehan, Tennyson Meehan, 3 sisters, Jeanne Eisenmenger; Claire Sanchez and husband Alfred; and Barbara George.
