ROBERT SWINNEY Obituary

Robert E. Swinney, 87, Kansas City, Missouri died April 19, 2012 at Kingswood Senior Living. He was born December 12, 1924 in Kansas City to Adolphus and Jessie Swinney. He married Mary Jane Wilson Swinney in 1948 and Bette Johnson Swinney in 1991. Both spouses preceded him in death. Robert was an Aviation Specialist in the Navy during World War II in the Mariana Islands. After World War II, Robert graduated from University of Missouri- Kansas City with a B.S. in Chemistry. Robert was employed in Sales with Paisley Adhesives from 1950 until 1973. In 1973 he opened his own company, Swinney Adhesives Inc. He built the company to be a regional success and retired in 1991. Robert enjoyed woodworking and golf and was a member of Ward Parkway Country Club. He also was involved in volunteerism with St. Joseph Hospital and the scholarship and recycling program at Kingswood. His parents and six siblings preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother Jack Swinney of Parkville, Missouri. Survivors include two daughters, Janet June Tellatin (James), Santa Fe, New Mexico and Teresa Leigh Humphreys, St. Louis, Missouri; son Timothy John Swinney (Becky), Blue Springs, Missouri; beloved grandchildren Kelly, Gabriel, Kathryn, Amanda, Alexandra, Meredith, Ariel, Devin, Claire, and Emily; and great-grandchildren Ruby, Sadie, Chloe, Isabelle, and Rosemary. Memorial services will be held Monday, April 23, at 11:30 a.m. at Kingswood Senior Living Chapel, 10000 Wornall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Salvation Army. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com. I was very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him on a couple of projects in the 1980's and early '90s.

Sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I remember him as being a very quiet and intelligent person who help us a great deal. I knew Bob as a Salesman & business owner when i was a customer at Gill Studios in Lenexa and I remember Tim. Fred Schmidt
