ROXIE PITTS

1913 - 2012 Roxie G. Pitts passed quietly on to her eternal life on October 8, 2012, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Though she was a long time Raytown resident, she spent the last several years at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Home and Manor in Belton. Born on Dec. 6, 1913, in Oskaloosa, Kan., to Jay and Birdie Alexander, Roxie was one of three children. Her brothers, Marlin and Donald Alexander preceded her in death. Roxie married Charles N. Pitts in Kansas City, and had one son, Gregory L. Pitts. Charlie also preceded her in death in 1971. Roxie was a devoted wife and mother all her life, and a faithful and devoted Christian. She enjoyed traveling, and a favorite memory was the annual family vacations they'd take cross- country by car. She was a member of the Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church, and a longtime volunteer at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kansas City. At her request, there will be no funeral. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf. A private graveside service will take place the following day at Newcomer's Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City. Roxie's son, Greg Pitts would like to thank the staff at Beautiful Savior for their compassionate care of his beloved mother over the years.
