Russ was a very good friend of mine back when we went to Salmen High School (in Slidell, Louisiana) together briefly in the mid 70's. Actually he was like a big brother to me! Even though we never kept in touch through the years, I will always remember our friendship! Rest in peace Russ!

If this were paper it would have tear stains on it. Russ was a wonderful loyal friend to everyone who knew him. His gift for listening, his encouraging hugs and great laugh will be sorely missed. He was such a support for the local congregation. When Russ is resurected first he will greet his family then he will ask when and where his next building project starts. My prayers are with the Claxton family and for everyone whose hearts are so heavy now. Love, Richard and Camille Norris

Russ was a great brother, father, friend, and example. I will never forget the memories we all had down in Hattiesburg on our "family" visits, his hilarious timeless jokes, and that time we tailgated at Arrowhead at the Chiefs game. My love goes out to the family. How thankful we are to have a hope for a real future! Sophia and I love you all!

I have known Russ my entire life, we grew up as family friends in Kansas City, then Slidell louisiana, and still stayed in touch. He was a great friend, and his sons are now great friends to my son. I have many hilarious memories of Russ, like the wrecked boat incident,on the bayou, just too funny. I do look forward to seeing him again soon.My love and prayers are being sent via this posting to all of the family. Love you.

Uncle Russ was the best! Even though he wasn't really my uncle, he was more of an uncle to me than my real ones. Every time I saw Uncle Russ he would always tell me he loved me. And when I was younger, he always called my sisters and I the daughters he never had.

Uncle Russ always had a joke up his sleeve, whether it would be an actual joke or teasing me about boys. In fact, he used to bribe me and my sisters by telling us he would give us furniture or a car if we would wait till we were 30 to get married. And anytime he would introduce me to someone he would always say,"tell them why you're so pretty." And I would say,"because I'm related to Uncle Russ." He was truly the best uncle a girl could ask for! Uncle Russ will truly be missed and I cherish every memory I ever had with him!

I sure loved working with Russ at ISCT and during our time at Paul Davis owners school together. A loving, helpful brother.

I recall he was with Joel and I at an ISCT program when he learned about a dead ostrich back on the farm that Kathy would have to take care of in his absence. We all kidded him and gave suggestions on how to handle the fall-out when he got home.

I wish we had stayed in closer contact. Our best to the entire family

Russ and I struck up an enduring friendship at a SCT conference many years ago. (That was when he was he was a cleaner and convention speaker at the time) We made lasting memories then and continued to add new ones right up to just a couple of weeks ago on the phone.

Russ was always kind and generous, and most of all authentic.

This shocking unexpected death is a reminder that we are a mist appearing for a little while and then disappearing. My friend's death reminds me to make every day count with worthwhile pursuits.

I already intensely miss the ability to pick up the phone and hear that character laughing with me and telling wild stories.

Thanks to Kathie, Carol, Kael & John for inviting me in on things this past weekend. I appreceiated getting to know the daughters in-law. They are great people too! Everyone looses who knew him.

My love to the family.

Your brother,

Tom Monahan (Ann Arbor, MI)

I will greatly miss Bro. Claxton. though I've only been around him for a short time he made a lasting impression on my life. Like he did many others; he always found me at the hall and greeted me with a warm hand shake or hug. He made so many of us feel glad we came to the meetings after a long day or week in this dying system. He was one of a kind and I have not met another like him yet. I know it was because of his love for Jehovah first and all of us second that made him into the man he was. The congregation will truly miss him. Our hearts and prayers are with the family. We love each of you; Kathy, Carol, Kael, Mindy, Jon, Lacey, and Skylar.

To the Claxton Fly.
I did not know Russ that well, but heard him give several talks, esp.Bob Keith's Memorial, and thought he was a wonderful speaker. Each time I saw him, he always greeted me with a big smile & encouraging words. I am so sorry for your lost, but know it won't be too long before we will be able to see his smiling face again. I am soooo sorry to hear about Brother Claxton. My heart is so very heavy. He was such a kind, thoughtful, personal brother. He always made me feel like he knew me well even though we only saw each other at assemblies in passing. I thoroughly enjoyed his talks, especially those he gave at memorials for other dear ones that we have lost. He always seemed to have the right words, illustrations, and precious stories and memories to relate. What a special brother we have all lost. He will be one of the ones I will be looking forward to seeing resurrected in the New World, I'm sure his devotion and zeal will be very useful to Jehovah and Jesus Christ then...as they have been to the congregation in the past. All my love prayers,~~~Janie

Russ was my best friend growing up. We played tennis left handed, and Carol and Darwin were such an influence for me. I lost track the past years, leaving that religion. James, my son, just told me.

Russ was one of our early morning crew that worked out at Canebrake Workout Center. It was apparent that he loved his Kansas City Chiefs (Being an Ole Miss Rebel, I was interested in them too with Dexter McCluster there).
But Russ was the friendliest guy in there. He always spoke a good word in any conversation. After his surgery on his shoulder, I didn't see him much and had missed him. I am so sorry to hear about his passing.

I pray that your family will feel God's loving arms around you during this time. I thank God for the opportunity to get to know one of His special children like Russ.
