Joseph J. "Joe" Aiken
Joseph J. "Joe" Aiken age 91 of Geneva passed away Friday December 13, 2024 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva surrounded by his loving family.
Joe was born August 17, 1933 in Amsterdam, New York. After graduating from high school in 1951, Joe attended Siena College in Loudonville, New York where he majored in journalism and business. He worked for General Telephone & Electronics (GT & E) in Johnstown, New York until 1967. He then became the Managing Editor for Telephony, a journal of the telephone industry, located in Chicago, Illinois. In 1972, Joe became the owner and publisher of ABC of the Telephone, training manuals for telephone companies world wide.
Joe had many hobbies which included being a pilot, author, musician, and artist, along with being a gardener due to his love of african violets. He also was the proud owner of the restaurant in Geneva which he redesigned and renamed the "Geneva Diner" that is still in business today.
Joe is survived by his wife Alma "Midge" (Plet); children Cathleen (Steve) Harding of Indiana and Theresa (Joseph) Ochoa of Florida. Five grandchildren include Jennifer (Michael) Sutton of Indiana, Amanda (Michael) Jungquist of Ohio, Brent (Sara) Harding of Indiana, Colleen (Cory Mullins) Umathum of Texas, Jessica (Michael)Alexander of North Carolina; nine great-grandchildren Theresa "Tess" Alexander, Camden, Natalie, Katelin Jungquist, Alexis, Jackson and Lincoln Sutton, Andrew and Jacob Harding; also survived by Alma's children David (Carrie) Kendall of St. Charles, Jeff (Angie) Kendall of Colorado and Kelly (Scott) Burkitt of Batavia; Alma's grandchildren Kristy, Amy, Amanda, Jessica, Lauren and Lindsey.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores (Lori), son Richard (Rick) Aiken and Alma's son Bruce Honeyman.
Vistation will be held Saturday December 21, 2024 from 10:00 am until the time of Funeral service at 12:30 pm at the Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State St. (Rt. 38) Geneva, Illinois, with Father Ryan Browning officiating.
Burial will be held at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva.
