Grand Island resident, 72
GRAND ISLAND - Carl Hammond, 72, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021, at CHI Health St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Church in Gibbon with the Rev. Mike Evans officiating.
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church.
O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

Carl was born Oct. 3, 1948, to Lawrence and Verna (Vantug) Hammond at Sterling, Colorado. He grew up and received his education in Sterling.
On May 15, 1970, he married Nancy Kenton in Gibbon. He had a passion for welding and worked for many places over the years. He enjoyed hiking, traveling, and collecting coins and antiques.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Hammond of Grand Island; children, Micheala (Todd) Everett of Atlanta, Kelly Hammond of Hot Springs, South Dakota, Jeff Hammond of Grand Island, and Todd (Rachel Hosick) Hammond of Blair; sisters, Elsie (Dave) Chism of Denver, Colorado, and Connie (Jim) May of Sterling, Colorado; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
