Cass Larson Obituary
March 23, 1973 - August 17, 2025
Cass W. Larson, 52, of Franklin, formerly of Kearney, passed away August 17, 2025, at Arbor Care Center in Franklin following a brief hospital stay for pneumonia. A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m., August 27, 2025, at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney with Pastor Jeff Wulf officiating. Burial will follow at the Kearney Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Faith United Methodist Church. Please dress casually for the service per Cass's wishes. Cass was born March 23, 1973, to Richard L. "Dick" and Kathy (Cederburg) Larson. He grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School in 1991. Cass graduated from University of Nebraska at Kearney in May 1997 with a double major (Bachelor of Arts degree in 7-12 History Education and 7-12 Physical Education).
Cass worked at UNK as an athletic trainer until an aneurysm in 2015 left Cass quadriplegic. He relocated to a care facility in Franklin, Neb., which has been his home for the past ten years. For the past three months, his mother, Kathy, has also lived in that facility, allowing for daily visits.
Cass enjoyed watching television, especially game shows and The History Channel, and listening to audio books (especially history) and music. He was an avid UNK fan and enjoyed listening to their athletic events on the radio.
Cass is survived by mother, Kathy Larson; uncle, Kent (Cindy) Cederburg; aunt, Sharon (Dan) Babl; nephews, Jaden and Xander Larson; and several cousins.
Cass was preceded in death by his father; brother, Morgan Larson; grandparents; and uncles, Gary Cederburg, Royce Larson, and Ronnie Larson.
