Dean Hinrichsen age 88 formerly of the Overton, NE area passed away on September 1, 2024, at the Bethany Home in Minden, NE.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Overton Christian Church in Overton, NE. Inurnment will be in the Overton Cemetery with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to Overton Public Schools Activities Fund or the Family. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.govierbrothers.com
Dean Walter Hinrichsen was born September 18, 1935, in Overton, NE to Walter and Anna (Olmstead) Hinrichsen. Dean graduated from Overton High School in 1953. Dean joined the United States Navy. Dean served our Country from June 1, 1954, and was Honorably Discharged on May 26, 1958. After serving in the Navy, Dean worked as a carpenter in Seattle, WA for a number of years building homes. In 1981, Dean returned to Nebraska doing carpentry work until he retired at the age of 76. Later moving to the care home because having suffered the last number of years with Dementia & Alzheimer's.
Dean enjoyed Overton School Sports, Nebraska Football, golf, fishing, and card games.
Dean is survived by son Mike (LaVonda) Hinrichsen of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Dawn Hinrichsen of Kearney, eight grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, sisters Lucy (George) Moore of Overton, Delores Ropers of Sargent, daughter-in-law Merry Favinger of Minden and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gregg, brothers Hank, Wilmer, Ray, & Jay, and a sister Phyllis.
