Delores Hild

April 13, 1930 - June 21, 2025

Delores Eileen Hild, age 95 of Kearney, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney. A private family service will be held and burial will be later. An open house to celebrate the life of Delores will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the home of Norris and Lori Marshall, 186 W Road, Kearney; all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. Please visit www.hlmkfuneral.com to leave a message or condolence. Delores was born on April 13, 1930, in Alma, NE on the family farm, to Leora (Schleufer) and George Wiemers. She was the oldest of four children. She had three younger brothers, Orville, Lesley and Wayne. Delores attended the Prairie Dog School through the eighth grade and then moved with her family North of Elm Creek in the early 40's. There she attended the Elm Creek Public School. Delores married the neighbor boy, Jake Hild, on October 12, 1946. Together they raised their family of four sons and five daughters on the farm.

Delores loved the farm and everything about it. She raised chickens, milked cows, tended to a large garden and canned many things including jelly and pickles. She served on District 83 school board for around 30 years and the Elm Creek school board for two terms. She was on the election board for years and also helped with the Elm Creek Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was the Buffalo County Extension Treasurer in the 80's. Delores was a charter member of the Hillcrest Extension Club and also belonged to the Willing Worker Club for over 40 years. She loved playing cards with friends and family. She also enjoyed family lunches on Tuesday's which were a special time with her children and whoever else came through the door. Delores always looked for the best in everyone. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She moved to Kearney in 1999, seven years after her husband died. She then took care of a family friend for nine years. In her later years when not able to do stairs, family gatherings were moved to the Party Barn where she was still the center of attention.

Delores is survived by her children, Jack and Pat Hild of Kearney, Darrell Hild of Elm Creek, Danny and Tammy Hild of Tribune, KS, Cynthia and Steve Getty of Overton, Deborah Cornett of Kearney, Lori and Norris Marshall of Kearney and Lynette and Mike Mitchell of Elm Creek; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous other extended family and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jake Hild, Jr.; daughter, Rhonda Kamery.

Delores was a special neighbor. She made the best salad at Christmas that our family enjoyed! She was a very sweet lady whom we will miss.

What a life well lived! I loved talking to `mom“ when she was still able to do the pool at the gym. What a special and kind person with a special family. Prayers and hugs to the family.
