A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 4 p.m., at Kooper's Korner in Hildreth, Nebraska.

Kenton Arden Peterson, 89 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Bryan Medical Center East Campus. Kenton was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, on March 1, 1936, the eldest of two children, born to Clarence C. and Pearl (Bell) Peterson. He started his education at Holdrege Public School, and the family moved to Wauneta, Nebraska, where he went to school through the 9th grade. The family then moved back to Holdrege, where he graduated with the class of 1954. Kenton attended Colorado State University for one year before joining the United States Air Force, serving for four years. He spent most of his time in Japan as an airplane mechanic.

In 1961, Kenton was united in marriage to Beverly Baily, and to this union two children were born: Lynne and Kirk. The couple made their home on the family farm, where Kenton worked until his retirement.

Kenton enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. He was an avid reader, spending many hours with a book in his hand. Kenton was a member of the Legion, Elks, Eagles, and Lyons Clubs.

Kenton was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Matthew Pearson; his brother, Dean Peterson and his wife, Sonja.

Kenton is survived by his two children: Lynne Pearson and her husband, Kyle of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Kirk Peterson his wife, Brittney of Holdrege; five grandchildren: Krista Burgess and her husband, Jimmy of Basehor, Kansas, Brock Peterson of Holdrege, Sara Pearson of Claremore, Anna Goettl and her husband, Hank of Clarkdale, Arizona, Emma Peterson of Holdrege; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his longtime companion, Linda Mattson of Holdrege; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives; and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Kenton's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Kenton's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
