Janet Fivecoat Obituary

Janet Fivecoat passed away on September 10, 2024, at her home in Tower of David in Sioux Falls, SD. A celebration of life visitation will be held 3:00-5:00pm Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Community Room 4500 W 35th St N, Sioux Falls, SD 57107 with family and friends present. It will resume at the Gateway lounge at 5:00pm. Janet was born on October 7, 1948, to Frank and Betty Fivecoat of Turner, Kansas (now Kansas City, Kansas). She attended Turner schools and graduated from Turner High School in 1966, and she also took business classes at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Janet loved sports and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. In 2006, she moved to Sioux Falls so she could watch her favorite teams: those on which her grandchildren played. She also loved to play bingo, dice, and cards, and she enjoyed participating in activities-especially the book club-with friends at the Tower of David. Janet is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Keith and Idalesta Boyd of Sioux Falls and Shawn Boyd and Nicole Reidlinger Hopkins of Gladstone, MO; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Steve Bakken of Sioux Falls; sister Kerri Campbell and her partner Michael Gates of Louisburg, KS; grandchildren Taryn, Jalen, Kyler, Cannon, and Brock; great-granddaughters Vada and Lennon; nephew Kirk Campainha great-nieces and nephew Ashley, Frank and Anna Victoria and great-great niece Cheyenne. Janet was preceded in death by her beloved parents; brother Steven C. Fivecoat, stepson Bill "Dude" Ferguson Jr., and brother-in-law Charles "Dale" Campbell. The family would like to sincerely thank Heidi of Home Care Services; Jessica, Kelsey, and Jodi of Sanford Home Hospice; as well as Ava's House, for their great and loving care. Janet was quirky and witty and tough as nails. She lived life on her terms and tangled with anyone who disapproved. Never a shrinking violet, she stood her ground but loved just as fiercely. She wanted what we all want: just to be loved in return. You were indeed loved, Janet. And your family will forever love you and miss you. A celebration of life visitation will be held 3:00-5:00pm Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Tower of David with family and friends present. It will resume at the Gateway lounge at 5:00pm.
