Audrey Shirley (Dzork) Wirtz, 90, of Bokeelia, FL, formally of Yorkville passed away peacefully in her sleep at her son's home on Thursday, December 30, 2021. She was born in Chicago, IL on September 23, 1931 to the late John and Helen Dzork. On August 7, 1954, Audrey was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Wirtz and they spent the next 51 years happily married before Robert passed away. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Audrey and Bob were the original owners of The Bread Board Restaurant in Yorkville. Then Audrey began working at North American Jewelers, F.W. Witt & Co., and Fox River Lanes in Yorkville. Audrey could be found tending bar at Fox River Lanes and St. Patrick Parish Center on many occasions.
Audrey previously taught Religious Education Classes with St. Mary's Catholic Church in Plano and then continued her love for the Lord by becoming a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville. In 2000, Audrey and Bob retired to Planation, FL where she tried to perfect her golf swing while working part-time at Jacaranda Golf Club. Once in Florida, Audrey found pleasure in volunteering her time at St. Gregory Catholic Church in the school/church office, as well as, being a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Saturday evening Mass. After Audrey moved from Plantation to Bokeelia, she continued to volunteer her time at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church by being a Lector. Audrey was also an avid bowler who loved to participate in State and National tournaments. Some of her best friends were her "bowling ladies". Audrey was always the life of the bowling alley and could be heard across the lanes.
Audrey was proceeded in death by her husband Robert Wirtz Sr, sister Terri King, sister Pat Storako and identical twin sister Shirley Kennedy. She is survived by her three children; Sherrie Wirtz and Ron McCue, Susan (Mathew) Harkis, and Robert Jr (Frances "Dede") Wirtz; her five grandchildren Tabetha (Jason) Knobeloch, MaryHelen Harkis (fiancé Michael Narwoki), Catherine (Mathew) Gregory, Kristine (Kevin) Mitchell, and Theo Harkis and Jessica Gulczynski; four great-granddaughters Emersyn Gregory, Alexis Knobeloch, Charley Gregory and Oaklynn Mitchell; sister Joan Zajeski; sister in law Virginia Purcell and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Audrey's life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hope Hospice of Cape Coral Florida.

I´m so very sorry. What a gal. Met at St Greg´s... always talked about going to Bobby and Dee´s. She was so happy with u two! ( I´m the one with pea soup and banana bread) lol! Peace and Love sweet Audrey!!

I have so many memories of Audrey! We were both on the same team as Eucharist Minister´s
at St Gregory´s Catholic Church here in Plantation Florida!
We also were on the same bowling league, She was a very good bowler! We had so much fun!
Audrey was a very special person and is missed!
