Fred E. Helmond

HELMOND Fred E. "Fritz", 85, husband of Nannetta Thomas Helmond, died March 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. Born Sept. 2, 1931 in Lafayette, IN, he was the son of the late Fred C. and Louise McDole Helmond. Mr. Helmond served in the U.S. Air Force as a Radio Operator at Johnson's Air Force Base in Japan. After serving his country, he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, and was a retired Branch Manager with Steele Supply Company. Mr. Helmond was a Free Mason and a 50 year member of Temple Lodge # 47 in Bloomington, IN. He was of the Methodist Faith. Survivors other than his wife include two children, Teresa L.(Charles) Brock and Edward (Sherri) Helmond; one granddaughter, Katie Helmond; one brother, Robert L. (Jean) Helmond, Plainfield, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 12:30pm Sat, March 18, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Dr. Carl Peters. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-8pm Fri. at the funeral home.
