What a wonderful outpouring of love, support, and emotion to our family. We thank you! Jim was an enriching father, an inquisitive mentor, and above all a "citizen of the world." He taught us to open our eyes to people, places, and opportunity.

My two favorite "Dad" sayings:

Here's to us and all like us and thank God there aren't too many of us.

And,

Everyone's gotta be some place.

Wish you were here with us, Dad. You are dearly missed.

Love,
Alicia

We were both so blessed to know Jim. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Family. We are so glad you were all able to spend Thanksgiving together - wish we could have been there too. I can picture Jim and Frank (MacKinnis) back together again - telling stories to each other. We love you all and are sending hugs your way.

My best memories of my brother are 66 years apart. When I was 9, Jim left for the Navy and WWII. When he came back from boot camp we had our picture taken in the backyard - he in his uniform and me playing soldier with the family 22 cal. rifle over my shoulder. I was so proud. The second best was this February when I visited him for the last time. He truly enjoyed our long talks ranging over varied topics. Later on that summer, he told me on the phone he was proud of me and felt I would find much success in Hawawii. These two memories complete a recipical respect for one another that finally and most of all sweetly, come to pass.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Dad, along with Mom. I am grateful for the good life and many lessons Dad provided. I appreciated him more and more with age... (the older I got, the smarter he got). He definitely mellowed with age and was just about perfect right before he passed. I will always smile, remembering his curiosity about everything in the world and his willingness to debate almost any subject with anyone... as long as they could stand it. Dad was an optimist, and he always made me feel I was capable of anything.
In loving memory,
Chris
