Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Jason L. Bishop US Army Sergeant 1st Class.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Today marks the 10th anniversary of your sacrifice. Time passes and I begin to look on this day not as a day of mourning but a day of remembrance and celebration. You are a Man's man, a Soldier's Soldier. You continue to be an inspiration to all who have known and served with you. Enjoy your respite on Fiddler's Green, Trooper. You have earned it and more.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jason, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the family of Sgt 1st Class Jason Bishop my deepest sympathy for your loss. I know the pain is deep and I also know that none of us can ever understand what you are each going through unless we walk your shoes. It is a great loss that is for sure for we lost one of our best. Someone that care for his family and country and was going to protected it with his life if need be. Those of us that enjoy our freedom better take a look at the families that have given the ulitmate scacific so the rest of us can enjoy freedom. Never never take freedom for granted for it took someone like Bishop to fight for this freedom so the rest of us would be safe. I only wish I could take your pain away but I know that can not happen for there is a big hole in your lives. All I can do is make a quilt to honor this great man and to comfort you. I'm hoping i have the right address for each of you to receive a quilt. I know he has two children and parents who I hope I can make sure and send them each a quilt. Please contact me to make sure you do receive a quilt. My email is [email protected] and my website is www.freedomquilts.net Know that we have you in our prayers and in our thoughts.

August 15, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I am fortunate to have known Jason first as one of my Soldiers, and evetually as one of my closest friends. Actually, the word "brother" is more suitable. We attended each other's weddings and shared many great times together on duty and off. If there ever was someone who could be counted on without fail and without question, it was Jason. Earning his respect was a true mark of excellence. My life was changed for the better for having known him, and I am devastated at having lost him.

Trina, I keep pictures of Jason and Matt on my desk. He looks every bit his father's son, and I cannot wait to meet him and see you again soon! God bless - you are all in my prayers every night.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of a great soldier. SFC Bishop was my DS at LTC (Leadership Training Course) at Ft. Knox, KY in the summer of 2004. DS Bishop helped to shape me as a person. He was a hard nose and made sure that we were squared away. I was a merely a MS II cadet at the time ..just entering the ROTC progam. DS Bishop taught me how to live by the warrior ethos and to be a leader at all times. Now I will commission into the US Army in May ... and it's because of his influence and guidance that I will be able to lead my troops. DS Bishop will surely be missed. I will definitely keep the Bishop family in prayer.

I personally never got to meet Jason, however my husband, CPT Michael Bice was fortunate enough to have. Mike and Jason spent most of January 2005 together at Ft Benning, GA taking the Combatives course. Both were away from home and family and kind-of well, helped eachother through it. They "rolled around on the mats" all day everyday, and bruised and battered - together went to dinner, or just hung out. Mike always commented about Jason on his calls home -- and the two became fast friends. They called eachother "B"... Jason always spoke of his family, and how he loved being a dad. He had so much he wanted to teach his kids. Jason called Mike a few days before he deployed, as busy as he was getting ready to leave and spending time with his family - he took the time to call a buddy. That is the Jason that Mike knew and quickly learned to love. We read of Jason's passing in the Army Times - it was a long night in our house that night. Our hearts go to Jason's family, and not a day goes by without thinking of them. Please know that Jason will be missed not only by those who have known him for years, but also by those who he touched in just a short period of time.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

I am deeply saddened for your loss. I am so thankful to your wonderful HERO for the life he lead. I was extremely honored to sing at his funeral. His friends that spoke at the funeral did a marvelous job of painting a picture of his life - very special friends indeed. My prayers will be with you.

Dear Bishop Family,

Even though we have never met I feel that we are a part of a "family". My daughter's fiancee Cpl. John Stalvey was killed Oct. 3, 2005 in Iraq. It is my prayer that God will hold you as close to His heart as He has held my family in the past months. May you find peace and comfort knowing your son is a hero to us all.

In God's grace,

God bless this family in their time of need. Jason was a good man and so many of us appreciate his service in ways words cannot even come close to explaining. I hadn't seen Jason for 12 years, but I knew he would go far. I am so proud to have had him in my life for the short time that I did. It is a great honor to have known him. My family will forever be grateful and Jason's family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Alot of words come to mind to say when there is such a significant loss. I know that words cannot fill that void, but they can assure you that you have alot of people who care. Jason blessed you with a beautiful son, Matthew, who will always carry a part of Jason with him, as will you. Please know that you and Matthew, as well as all of Jason's family, are in our thoughts and prayers. We are very proud of Jason, as he is a hero to all of us, and we send a special "thanks" to him. Now he has another destiny, to be the guardian angel for you and Matthew. He was a good man, and he will always watch over you. May God be with you and all of his family through this devastating time.

After serving with Jason at Fort Knox as a Drill Sergeant I found him to be a very dedicated man. Dedicated to his family, his job, and his country. I want to thank him and his family for his, and their sacrifice. It is people like Jason that keep this country free. The Bishop family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I did not know SFC Bishop personally. Holmes High School is my alumnus. I am an Army wife whose husband is currently serving in Afghanistan. Jason made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom. He is a hero, and I am proud of his dedication and passion for our country and the American pride and patriotism he portrayed. God Bless your family, and may you welcome God's strength and the support of true Americans to get you through this time.

To Jason's family - I am truly sorry for your loss. Jason and I attended BNCOC together back in 1999 and I last talked to him a few years ago before he came off of drill sergeant duty. He was a good soldier and a good friend. My deepest sympathy
