It has been one year today since we lost our little brother Jimmy. He was smart, generous, loved his family and friends and had such a great sense of humor. I always wondered how he thought up some of the things he said. Our family will never be the same without him. I remember when he called last Christmas laughing about having to deliver Mia's presents in two cars. When I first saw Mia I told him how pretty I thought she was and he answered, "Very". I am sure he would feel the same about Molly. He was so proud of Scottie and Manny.
I am proud of his business success but most of all proud of all the good friends he had. He helped so many people. Even though there are 6 of us left it is so lonely with him gone. We loved him so.

I am a cousin. I knew Jimmy when we were young and used to visit with my parents every summer at Aunt Eula Mae's and Uncle Ray's. Whenever Jimmy was around there was always laughter and much fun had by all. I wish I had known him when we were grown. My heart goes out to his children and his brothers and sisters who are all great and loving people I remember fondly. Brenda (Black) Simmons.

Scotty & Manny,
I can't begin to tell you of all the laughs and humor your Dad and I enjoyed while working at the same time. We had a special understanding between "Government and Contractor" that served both of us and provided our Armed Forces the best value and saved lives in the process. Your Dad will be greatly missed not only personally but professionaly as well. If there is anything you need please don't hesitate to give me a call.

Manny & Scotty,

I want you to know I think a lot of Jimmy and have admired his accomplishments over the years. I have often looked at a situation; professional & personal and said to myself “what would Jimmy do”.

Jimmy has been and will continue to be a mentor of mine.

Scotty,Stacey,Manny, and family, I knew Jimmy 28 years. I never met a man more fun to be around. I never met a more generous man, to me and countless others. I never met a man who loved his sons any more or delighted in their lives any more than he did. The Simpson family sends their love and support out to you, if you ever need anything from us, dont hestate to call. Jimmy Robertson will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and also many who did not.

Scotty & Family, Manny, and Connie.....Well here I am here in Lexington.....I still don't think the reality of it all has set in yet. Today there can be no denying that my youngest uncle is gone.I loved him with all my heart as I do you all. We have always had a very strong sense of family....I know this is going to be hard for each and everyone of us but we can all get through it together...because that is what he would expect.... be rough, be tough, be strong and if any of us feel less than that.....we can do a call around and bring us all back up to par again. I love you boys and Aunt Connie and would do anything in the world for any of you! I would tell you some funny stories but not here. I will share them face to face.If you need me.....just call!

From our freshman days at UK in Donavon Hall third front until we saw each other at the Palm restraunt in Nashville for the 2007 Music City Bowl, Jim's laughter and his friendship has been a part of my life. Any time at Rupp Arena I could turn to my right and make eye contact with Jim, knowing that our hearts shared the same love for UK. Kentucky has lost a great citizen and UK has lost its most loyal supporter, and his family indeed has lost a great husband and father, and many have lost a great friend.

I only met Jimmy a couple of times, but each time I was struck by his energy. He had a strength of character and openness that drove people to him. It is the same strength that I am sure he was proud to see in his sons Scotty and Manny. We send you all our love.

The Robertson Family, I am so sorry for the loss of Jimmy. I graduated with Jimmy and saw him for our 40th reunion. So many people were thanking Jimmy for helping their kids while in college and very appreciative of him (and of course for U.K.tickets). It was great seeing him again and laughing and remembering the "old days". He will be missed.

Manny, Scotty & Marla,
Our prayers are with you as our hearts too are heavy with this immeasurable loss. Jimmy was awesome of spirit, funny and kind -always greeting you with a smile. He was a generous soul, a great friend and mentor; no truer friend could you have had in your corner. Jim was and is irreplaceable and will be missed by us all. I am a better person having had the priviledge of knowing him; he enriched our lives and will continue to be an inspiration to live every moment of everyday!

Jimmy always said that he should have written a book about the unique characters that he had encountered over the years, but would go on to add that no one probably would believe that any of the stories could possibly have been true anyway. The size of the book would have been really big with chapters devoted to the likes of: Snag; Pickhandle; Tennessee; Babe; Little Bill; Smooth; Hoghead; Flippy; Cadillac; Smittie; Ears; Mojo; Flash; Skip; Firehose (don't ask); Plumb Bob; Rat (no offense Jack); and Owl Heads in general. Don't feel left out if you weren't mentioned. You can be assured that anyone that ever met Jimmy Robertson would have had their own chapter. Heck, I bet we could all even write a chapter about Jimmy Robertson himself. You know the more I think about it, maybe Jimmy did write his book after all. It's just published in our memories, but as we recount the stories over the years no one will probably believe that any of them could possibly be true anyway.

I will never be able to fill the void that has been left in my heart by Uncle Jimmy's passing. There is one thing for sure though, I don't think I have ever had any better times than that spent with the Best Buddies For Life club. Scotty and Manny, I know you are proud of your Dad and will miss him badly. Since I didn't get to see you guys much anymore, I would keep an eye out for you while watching the Cats on TV, I would see you on the screen, pause the DVR, and try to figure out what you guys were talking about. This year you are doing a lot of shaking you head from side to side. Wildcat basketball will never be the same for me now. You know I love you boys and I am very sorry that you have to go through this. He will be missed by many. Love you both! BBFL

Sad time. Jimmy was a good friend. Built lots of monuments to his life. I guess that's what construction is all about. He gave me my first real job. Started a pattern that never changed thru my work life.

Anyone who knew him has to wonder if he isn't watching us all with that gleem in his eyes and grin on his face. He would't want this to be a sad occassion.

Celebrate his life!

I am very saddened to hear of Mr. Robertson's passing. Only having been around the man a number of times, he still left an indelible mark on me and it sounds like pretty much anyone he encountered. He always extremely welcoming and had an aura that lit up a room. His sons are a tribute to what a fine man he was. May God comfort his family and friends in this trying time.

Jimmy's Family and Marla,

You know that Nicole, Gerald and I felt like Jimmmy was part of our family, too. We keep rehashing some of the funny things he used to say. He always was so positive and was like a shining star. We loved him and we still do. Knowing that he will be watching all of us will help to get us through.

No, he can't be replaced. He had his own unique style. I myself get sick of people telling me to hang on to memories. But do consider - what would Jim/Jimmy do? And it just might pull you through. Also, surround yourself with spirtuality, family & friends to keep from falling into despondency.

You know if there's anything we can do, don't hesitate to call upon us.

Caringly,

Joyce Palmer & Family

I Did Not Die
Mary E Faye

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.
