Mildred Hope MELTON

MELTON Mildred (Midge) Hope, 81, of Lexington, widow of Randall C. Melton, died Sun, Jan 9, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Shell and Fannie Neely Phillips. She owned and operated Melton's Beauty Salon in the early 60's. She later gave that up to be a stay home mom. After her children were grown, she took a job at Sears in advertising and later in appliance sales. She left Sears to help with her parents and later went to work with her son Bill, as co-owner and bookkeeper of Automotive Paint and Supply. She retired and enjoyed being with her friends, family and her beloved dog, Trapper. Survivors include two sons, Bill (Patsy) Melton and Randy (Sarah) Melton; grandchildren, Christopher and Shannon Melton; nephews, James (Leslie) Phillips, Danny (Sherri) Stark and Todd Stark; nieces, Suzanne (Matt) Dowling; great nieces and nephew, Amanda Stark, Alexis Stark, Shelby Ann Phillips, Allie Rose Phillips, Kateri Dowling and Nicholas Dowling; two sisters-in-law, Ethel (Bill) Stark and Alma Phillips. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Paul Phillips and a niece, Paula Ann Phillips. Funeral services will be 2:30pm Fri at Milward - Southland with burial to follow in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Thu at the funeral home.
