Richard Maki Obituary

Richard A. Maki of Kasson, MN died Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Richard was born on November 10, 1930 in Ely, MN to Albert A. and Hilma S. (Autio) Maki. He graduated from Denfeld High School, Duluth, MN in 1948. In 1947 at the age of 16 he joined the National Guard and in 1948 at the age of 17 enlisted in the Army and was discharged in 1952. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1955 and then attended graduate school at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He then went on to a career in banking and insurance. Richard had three brothers. He is survived by James (Linda) Maki. Brothers Albert and David, both preceded him in death. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kasson, MN. He married Jacqueline Carriveau in 1959, and they had three children: William (Mary K.), Kenneth (Christine), and Jeanette (Layne) Groth. Jacqueline and Richard were divorced in 1982. He then married Lavonne Harper Campbell in 1989 who died in 2017. She had six children: Marsha (Ron) Greiner, Troy (Janice), Terry (Ashley), Marette (Jim) Jorgenson, Chris (Dawn), and Aaron (Kristin). A service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 2pm at First Baptist Church, 304 4 Street NW, Kasson, MN. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch or First Baptist Church, Kasson. Memories and condolences of Richard may be shared at rochestercremationservicesmn.com
