Carol Lane Longmire Clapp

Knoxville, TN

CAROL LANE LONGMIRE CLAPP, passed away on December 30, 2017. Born in East St. Louis, IL on July 31, 1938 to Harold and Dorothy Lane. The family moved to Norris, TN in 1945. Carol graduated from Norris High School in 1956 and attended Knoxville Business College. After her marriage to Wendell Ray Longmire, they moved to Knoxville and had two daughters, Pamela and Patricia. Carol began working with Knoxville Utilities Board in 1974 and retired in 1999. After being widowed for many years, she married Gordon R. Clapp. Her favorite pastimes were caring for her family, cooking, sewing, playing bridge, reading, and traveling.

Preceding Carol in death were first husband, Ray; and her parents, Harold and Dorothy Lane; youngest brother, Kent. She is survived by husband Russ, daughters Pamela Andre (Steve) and Patricia Searcy (Mark), all of Knoxville; sisters Joyce L. Ogburn of Dickson, TN and Janice R. Stooksbury (Walter) of Andersonville, TN; brothers Gene Lane (Peggy) and Robert Lane of Clinton, TN; granddaughters Heather Shipley (Chad) and Madison Andre; great-granddaughter Olivia Shipley; two stepchildren Geoffrey R. Clapp of Smyrna, GA and Jennifer C. Garrison of Juno Beach, FL. Particular appreciation is extended to the staff of TN Veterans' Home-Ben Atchley and Amedisys Home Health Care for the excellent care and services gracefully provided to Carol. Donations may be made in Carol's memory to Genesis Neuroscience Center, 1400 Dowell Springs Blvd. Ste 100, Knoxville, 37909 or Alzheimer's Association, 9050 Executive Park Dr., Ste A-106, Knoxville, 37923. Family will receive friends Thursday 5-6:30PM at Central Baptist Church of Bearden with a Celebration of Life service to immediately follow.
