Eloise Whaley Obituary

WHALEY, ELOISE "JUNE" REDMOND - age 86 of Knoxville, joined her Lord on Sunday morning, November 8, 2009. Originally from Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, she attended Powell Valley High School, Lincoln Memorial University and Knoxville Business College. She was a former PTA President of West View Elementary and a longtime member of the Primitive Baptist faith. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman, and was extremely patient, loving, and kind. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her well. Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Hosea Dee and Annie Mae Redmond; brother, Hosea Dee Redmond, Jr.; and sisters, Gola Fae Redmond and Winnifred Hitch. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James A. Whaley, Jr.; sons, Jim Whaley and wife Nancy, and Don Whaley; daughter, Karen Sumner and husband Mark; grandchildren, Heather Duncan, Rosalyn Van Peborgh, Dallas, TX, Sarah Lutts, Savannah Phillips, Lake City, TN, Matthew Whaley, and Christina Whaley; sister, Virginia Sulfridge and husband Clint "CJ", Oak Ridge, TN; sister-in-law, Muriel Redmond, Williamsburg, VA; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also many special nieces, nephews, and family friends. The family wishes to express their special thanks to Belmont Heights Hospital Ministry and Beaver Dam Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Mortuary, followed by an 8:00 p.m. chapel service with Pastor Adam Lutts officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2009 for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service at Union Primitive Baptist Church in Maynardville led by Mark Sumner.
